Dr. Sandra Bour Schaeffe

Hybrid-electric aircraft, formation flying or new aircraft design: how Airbus demonstrators are accelerating technologies that could slash aviation emissions.

Dr Sandra Bour Schaeffer is Ho Airbus Group Demonstrator and CEO of Airbus ExO Alpha.

In her role she is actively shaping the future of aerospace industry by using flying demonstrators as the principal means of evaluating, maturing and validating new products and services that encompass radical technological breakthroughs. 

Airbus ExO Alpha is an innovation lab designed to accelerate traditional research cycles and prototype development to achieve proof of concept in a real environement and at a convincing scale and speed.

Sandra started her career in 1998 as a Fluid Mechanics Research Engineer at SNECMA before joining Airbus in 2001 to work on the PW6000 engine (A318).

While remaining at Airbus she graduated as a Flight Test Engineer from l’Ecole du Personnel

Navigant d’Essais et de Réception (EPNER). Between 2004 and 2007 she was deeply involved in the A380 Trent 900 Flight Test development and certification campaign.

At the end of 2007 Sandra moved to the Production Flight Test Domain where, as a Flight Test Engineer, she was in charge of the Long Range fleet coordination.

From 2011 onwards she was involved in the A319, A320 and A321 Sharklet projects as Performance and Handling Qualities Flight Test Engineer. 

In 2013 she was appointed A320neo family Project Flight Test Engineer. In 2014 Sandra participated to the A320neo maiden flight and in 2016 to the A321neo maiden flight.

Since 2016 was Ho Single Aisle Development Flight Test and was as such responsible of all flight test activities for the A320 family within the Airbus Flight Test team. In 2018 she combined the lead of both Single Aisle and A350 Development Flight Test.
