Stories from the Edge; an intimate look at shooting the BP Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico

Joy, a celebrated photojournalist, shares her first hand experience while covering the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

What started as a desire to shoot the rescue of an oiled pelican...became a two an a half month long -life altering experience on the front lines of one of the most historic, environmentally damaging, oil spills in modern history. While battling fatigue, frustration, and the effects of petroleum poisoning - Joy became filled with a deep passion and commitment to 'Be the Change' and make a difference.  She worked to both understand and document this unfolding tragedy while focusing on the battles of the small, native American/ Cajun community of Grand Bois- a community located only a few hundred yards from one of the largest and most lethal liquid petroleum dumping sites in the country.
